Our Programs
All of our programs at English Plus Academy incorporate all literacy skills including reading, writing, speaking and listening with a heavy focus on critical thinking skills which is a key component within the North American schooling system and within our everyday communication. Programs are 12 weeks in length and have various levels within each program. Students progress to the next level upon successful completion of the previous level.

It is important to emphasize that all students are challenged and encouraged to work toward reaching their goals of improving their current English skills.

Novel Study – (1 novel every 3 – 4 weeks)

Guided Studies
- Social Studies and Science curriculum based on Kindergarten to Grade 12 school system materials

- Weekly oral presentations
Writing/Reading/Vocabulary/Debating Clubs: Elementary and High School (class days vary)
4:00-6:00pm or 6:15-8:15pm
Writing Club
- Learning the 5 steps of writing (prewriting, rough draft, revising, editing, final copy)
- Step-by-step instruction on how to write a paragraph including organization and proofreading
- Step-by-step instruction on how to write an effective essay including the preparation on how to write an outline prior to writing
- Grammar exercises and review to help students avoid common grammatical errors in writing
Reading Club
- Reading of novels/short stories/poetry to practice reading comprehension skills
- Vocabulary building through reading exercises
- Heavy focus on critical thinking skills through journal writing and in-depth questions
Vocabulary Club
- 40-60 vocabulary words per week depending on level of student
- Systematic vocabulary program with student workbooks including word lists and exercises
- Weekly review of the vocabulary words with a fully certified teacher to ensure comprehension
- Weekly vocabulary testing with automatic marks printed and provided to parents/guardians
- Students move to the next level upon successful completion of their current level
Debating Club
- Reading and critically discussing a current event
- Researching both sides of the argument for homework
- Students are expected to defend their side using proper debating techniques and procedures
- Students will build on their oral skills, critical thinking skills and writing skills
SMART E PANTS
Our Smart E Pants program helps prepare children, aged 4-5 years old, for success by teaching them the following important skills:
- Phonics and literacy skills
- Fine motor development
- Social development through interactions with other children
- Confidence and a love for learning
- Preparation for Kindergarten
